AgriSouth is a one day free to attend event. The inaugural 2020 event will focus on research, technical development and innovation as well as supplies and services by showcasing the very latest machinery and equipment as well as the myriad of professional services and supplies available for ag’ businesses.
AgriSouth will be hosting a range of field-based arable demonstrations and trials that enable visitors to interact with leading industry experts from NIAB TAG, including variety demonstration trials in winter wheat and winter oilseed rape. Additional agronomy and soil management demonstrations will be confirmed in early 2020.
Some of the work undertaken will include trials looking at life without glyphosate, the contribution of soil conditioning materials, the use of biostimulants and the control of herbicide resistant ryegrass.
NIAB is the UK’s fastest growing crop science organisation, with rapidly expanding research capabilities in plant genetics, agronomy, farming systems and data science, the largest national field trials capability, and strong research links with industry, Government and academia. With headquarters in Cambridge, and regional offices across the country, employing more than 400 people across the UK, NIAB provides scientific research, technical services and practical advice to improve the yield, efficiency and resilience of crop production across the arable, forage and horticulture sectors.
Working as NIAB TAG (arable), NIAB CUF (potatoes) and NIAB EMR (soft and top fruit) they have the specialist knowledge, skills and facilities required to support improved crop production; evaluating variety performance and quality in the field, conducting crop agronomy research and ensuring the benefits of new knowledge and genetic potential are transferred on to farm.
NIAB provide research and on-farm advice to their large farmer and industry membership base, with a range of packages translating the most recent science and the best practice into on-farm strategies. This includes interactive digital platforms and products to map, store, share and compare farm, crop and research data.
NIAB TAG field demonstration trials
NIAB TAG champions the role of independent crop research, with the UK’s largest farmer and industry membership base providing impartial information and on-farm advice. Their unique regional farmer technical committees drive many of the areas which they trial. Some of the work undertaken including NIAB TAG’s own farming system trials looki at life without glyphosate, the contribution of soil conditioning materials, the use of biostimulants and the control of herbicide resistant ryegrass.
